The Street Food Chef Mexican Canteen
Last Saturday I treated my lady Alex and called into the Street Food Chef Mexican Canteen on Sharrowvale Road, Sheffield for a Burrito.

I have to say, we thoroughly enjoyed our food and you had that great feeling of being nicely full but not uncomfortably so, if you know what I mean. I had the Chicken and Smokey tomato sauce Burrito and Alex had a Chicken Mole Burrito. Both came with a handful of tasty corn Tortilla chips to mop up the great sauce, if any escapes! We both really enjoyed our food and there were clean, empty baskets all round.

I’m a bit of a chilli head after growing my own, so the range of heat that was on offer suited us both perfectly. Alex wanted her burrito with Pico de Gallo heat, where as, I opted for the hottest. I love that chilli feel good aftertaste. What made the experience even better is that you can wash down your tasty burrito with a Day of the Dead Mexican craft Ale, which was delicious.

After talking to Street Food Chef owner, Richard Golland, he proudly mentions that all of his food and sauces are made by his very own hands with no additives or sugars – you can definitely taste the freshness!

Richard opened his first Street Food Chef take-away six years ago in Sheffield city centre on Pinstone Street after cooking at the continental markets. Now, he has three more successful canteens all over Sheffield where you can sit in to eat and enjoy the food and Mexican ale.

It’s good to see local, independent ventures promoting a real taste of Mexico and we will be heading back for more very soon.
